A sewing finish to share....

Image
I wanted to share a picture of the tote bag I made for Karen late last week... it's mostly made from Moda "Birdsong" fabric that Karen picked out on our trip to the quilt shop in Sumter back in Feb. She even picked what order she wanted the strips in. I think it turned out pretty cute & I think Karen liked it, and that's what counts! :-) I do hope you enjoy using it Karen!! Be sure to see my post below from today too.... happy stitching!!

There isn't much of anything any better....

than a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donut that you get minutes after it comes off the line.... want to know how I know that so well? It was our last stop on the way home from our weekend at the beach!! Now for those who have only have the donuts from the grocery store or in some other location other than a place where they are making them fresh, you have no idea what you're missing. We don't even bother with those in a store. It's worth a 90 mile drive for a hot one - ;-) I know, sounds crazy, but if you have one, you'll understand! :-) The weather at the beach was beyond wonderful, warm & sunny Friday & Saturday. We were on the go almost the entire 48 hours and when we weren't, we were asleep - well, when all those noisy folks weren't waking us up. What are people doing up running around a hotel at 4 a.m.? CRAZY PEOPLE!! Our first stop on the way in was at the quilt shop where I met my oldest & dearest friend Donna. She doesn't sew, but she likes to...

LOTS to share today...

It's been a busy several days around here, which is a good thing. This week we have Ray's birthday - yep, just days after mine. :-) We do have plans for his birthday - I'll share later. First, I wanted to show you some wonderful gifts from wonderful friends..... This is from Jeanne who is one of the very first people I met when I got online about 13.5 years ago. She shares my love of stash & fabric & we both adore the Garden Party line of fabric, and she sent me a charm pack! And this kit with the little porcelain doll "body" is just too cute, I LOVE it & can't wait to stitch it. Hope to post of a pic of it finished before too long! Thank you again Jeanne, it's much appreciated! :-) Next is a lovely gift from dear Vonna - here are pics of the front & back! She says the buttons are "antique bone buttons" and I just love this design! (In fact, you might see it again one of these days!) :-) Thank you again Vonna, I adore the pin pil...

If you are interested in coming, send me an email or post here for me to email you more info! I have to have a head count very soon, so please let me know asap. Join us - it will be fun! Happy stitching!!!

And the winner is.....

True Random Number Generator Min: Max: Result: 41 Powered by RANDOM.ORG Thank goodness for Random.org ;-) #41, which is Roberta /SimplyStitchingInTheGarden! Thanks to all for entering my birthday giveaway - wish I could send each of you something! :-) Roberta, I will email you shortly & get your address to send out a pkg to you. Hope you will enjoy.... Hope to do some stitching/sewing or finishing today. Our power went out yesterday due to very bad winds & a tree went down in the swamp took out some lines, so it took them a while to get it fixed. Needless to say, no computer, no tv or audio books, no sewing and it got too dark to stitch after about 5:30. What a lovely birthday afternoon huh? ;-) It could have been worse - could have been out longer!!! Hope to have some stitching pics to share soon. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes!! Happy stithcing......

Happy Birthday to me.... ;-)

Isn't this an adorable cake? And let me tell you, it's YUMMY too - chocolate with cherry filling - really yummy! Nicole brought it to me yesterday when she came up for lunch - which was also great! She brought her youngest, Matthew, and let me tell you, he's ADORABLE!! I really enjoyed it, though she didn't get to stay long enough. Oh well, there is always next time! :-) Thanks again Nicole, for EVERYTHING! Ray cooked breakfast this a.m. & it was great (he's such a sweetheart!) and I have no plans for the day other than to hopefully stitch & go visit my parents later this afternoon I think - unless my mom shows up here first - you never know with her. :-) My sister & niece came to see me yesterday afternoon, which was nice. I live less than a mile (maybe 1/2 mile) from them & don't get to see them nearly as often as I'd like. Sad isn't it? And to celebrate my birthday - I am going to do a giveaway! What is it? Well, it's a SURPRISE ...

Stitching? Not so much....

Image
Hi & happy Thursday! So have you been stitching lately? Not so much here. I WANT to stitch, but have just not been in the mood. I even started something new the other night thinking it might help get me motivated - but no, again, not so much. :-( Is it just me in this "slump"? I think I'm just so ready for SPRING to arrive and my mood with the rain isn't so great. I HOPE it clears up tomorrow and the sun comes out. Or at least by Saturday - which is my birthday - surely the sun will shine on my birthday! (yeah, it's a really important day don't you know?!) ;-) I did receive a nice gift in the mail from a dear, sweet friend today - a gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop - thank you again Nicole ! I am going to TRY & wait until Saturday to actually use it, though it won't be easy! ;-) My "wish" list is longer than your arm, so it will be fun picking something out! :-) I just LOVE fabrics!! Maybe in the meantime I'll get some stitchi...

Needle/Pin Pillows anyone? ;-)

Image
I have been making a few needle/pin pillows. They are filled with crushed walnut shells which I'm told are good for keeping pins & needles sharp, and they also "stay put" because they are heavier than fiberfill. The approx. size is 3.5" to 4" square. The are two-sided and made from Moda fabrics (and have interfacting on the inside to keep the crushed walnut shells inside the pin cushion)! And all are "one of a kind". You can get an idea of each side from the ones above, but no two are alike. Picture is clickable for a larger view. I will be putting up a page to sell them (and a few other items) soon. These are $10 each + postage. In the meantime, if you're interested, just send me an email - amycspals@yahoo.com Haven't done any stitching lately, but I have the itch to start something new, so maybe this week. :-) Thanks for stopping by & happy stitching!

Ornament from Rosalie! (and a funny)...

Image
I just received this ornament from Rosalie (no blog) in the ornament exchagne group I'm in. She stitched one of the designs from Blackbird's Joyeux Noel - just love this design. Love that fabric too, isn't it pretty? Thank you again Rosalie! It's been a busy week here with all the new Market items arriving & seems like both Ray & I are "trying" to get sick. Might just be sinus issues, hope that's all at least. I haven't stitched or sewed at all, but I hope to remedy that tonight. I had two weekend finishes that aren't "finished" yet, but I will get to that soon (fingers crossed!). Got a little funny to share with you.... Ray goes to the eye doctor the other day and the lady at desk (she's new) asks him if address is the same and reads it from the chart, he answers yes. She asks if phone number is same, and again reads it aloud, he answers yes. Then she asks "has your birthday changed or is it the same?".... and he l...
