Fabric... fabric... more fabric.... ;-)

Image
How much fabric can you buy for $6.00????? Yep, that much! Really! $6.00 ;-) Karen came over today & we went to a place I'd completely forgotten about here in town. The picture above is the fabric we bought from a remnant bag & our "stuff a bag" of remnants! How cool is that? We split most of the pieces, but there were a few she didn't want, a few I didn't want (and one neither of us wanted! LOL ) It was FUN too. It's fun to spend the day with a friend, fun to shop and fun to get a deal like this! ;-) Most of it is home decor fabric so it's heavier weight than quilting fabrics, but we're not making quilts, so it's fine with us! :-) Karen said she was tired after our "shopping trip". I was too, but it was still fun! Now this 2 nd pic is my other remnant pile - the ones on the right we split - see anything you like? ;-) The pic isn't very good. The fabrics are really gorgeous, most of it is Waverly. And most are...

Blackbird's Summer Harvest FINISHED!!!

Image
Finally - a finish to share with you! This is Blackbird's Summer Harvest Needlebook & Pincushion. It was from a class last October. I didn't get to attend the class, but I was able to get the kit. I finally got it finished today and here are some pics for you... Here it is open - I had to change the lining fabric to one I had in my stash as the piece in the kit wasn't long enough. It's the same print, just a different color. I like all the BBD's Moda fabrics & have quite a few in my fabric stash - go figure that I had this one. The fabric that came with it was a peach color. I like this better (of course!). And the base of the pincushion is a wooden base painted blue, made by Alma's DH - it came in the kit as did all the trims, etc. It feels like it's been so long since I've had any stitching to share, but I have been stitching a bit here & there. Not enough, of course, but some! I hope to remedy that soon & stitch every night! :-) Thanks...

Happy Tuesday....

Bleeding Hearts... Isn't that picture amazing? Well, it is to me anyway..... Here's another "stem" - I guess that's what you'd call it.... And here's the whole thing. Those blooms are just gorgeous, esp. up close. This plant has sat out in the weather for over 2 years and it just gets prettier & prettier. It wasn't covered for the winter or anything and look at the blooms. I guess it's happy and it certainly makes me smile to look at it. It's every prettier today - this was taken yesterday afternoon late. It's time to do something with the plants, but we are trying to wait until the pollen dies down a bit. EVERYTHING is yellow - including the air - I've never seen it so bad. :-( And this is two blooms on an Orchid my mom gave me in Nov. Isn't it pretty? AND I did stitch a bit on Sunday. I started this weeks & weeks ago, did the outline & a few more stitched & put it down. I decided it was time to finish it up and...

Couple of finishes to share... (and a recipe!)

Yes, I do still stitch - at least occasionaly! :-) In the first picture, we have "Hoppity" by Stone & Thread. I *think* she may no longer be designing. I've had this in my stash for awhile now. I stitched it on a piece of 32 ct Vintage Blue Whisper Belfast with either GAST or WDW (or a combo) and finished it this afternoon, just in time for Easter. It's been stitched for weeks & weeks, I just haven't done any finishing lately! Next is "Antique Locks & Keys" by Shakespeare's Peddler that I started last Sat. while the gals were here to stitch. It's on a piece of 32 ct fabric from Lakeside (mystery color from a "scrap bag") and I used GAST Onyx. As you can see, I made it into a pillow. I picked up this fabric on Wednesday just for this and I like the way it turned out! I will be displaying it with my Pottery Barn keys that Donna gave me last weekend. Ray is going to paint them all a matte black for me as soon as the pollen let...

A sewing finish to share....

I wanted to share a picture of the tote bag I made for Karen late last week... it's mostly made from Moda "Birdsong" fabric that Karen picked out on our trip to the quilt shop in Sumter back in Feb. She even picked what order she wanted the strips in. I think it turned out pretty cute & I think Karen liked it, and that's what counts! :-) I do hope you enjoy using it Karen!! Be sure to see my post below from today too.... happy stitching!!

than a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donut that you get minutes after it comes off the line.... want to know how I know that so well? It was our last stop on the way home from our weekend at the beach!! Now for those who have only have the donuts from the grocery store or in some other location other than a place where they are making them fresh, you have no idea what you're missing. We don't even bother with those in a store. It's worth a 90 mile drive for a hot one - ;-) I know, sounds crazy, but if you have one, you'll understand! :-) The weather at the beach was beyond wonderful, warm & sunny Friday & Saturday. We were on the go almost the entire 48 hours and when we weren't, we were asleep - well, when all those noisy folks weren't waking us up. What are people doing up running around a hotel at 4 a.m.? CRAZY PEOPLE!! Our first stop on the way in was at the quilt shop where I met my oldest & dearest friend Donna. She doesn't sew, but she likes to...
